I love the connections I have made as a photographer. Each bride, groom, and family member I meet brings meaning to what I photograph. I met Stefani and Jason last year when Stefani’s sister Tania hired me to photograph their proposal at Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa. All of the family is from out of town (and some out of state), so after that event, I wasn’t sure if I would get to see them again. Fast forward to a few months ago when Stefani emailed me to ask if I would photograph their wedding at Palace of Fine Arts! I was so excited to continue to document their love story!
Funny little tidbit about this wedding: there were 3 Stephanie’s! Me, the bride (Stefani), and her makeup artist! Let’s just say after hearing “my” name over and over again, I started to realize they probably weren’t calling for me 😉
Most of the family had come in for the wedding from New Jersey, so I think the San Francisco weather gave everyone a bit of shock. I however, was so thrilled because their ceremony was during the day and I was worried about how bright it would be. SF is one of the most unpredictable cities when it comes to weather! We arrived to the venue and it was not crazy foggy, but just enough to give nice, even light. Thank you to everyone who thought warm thoughts while we did formal photos!
The ceremony was beautiful. For those of you who haven’t been to the Palace of Fine Arts, its a HUGE, beautiful building near the Marina, and is a well known tourist attraction. The area in the middle was all set up for the ceremony, but tourists were still walking around. It was a little nutty at first, but what was really interesting was when the music started to play and everyone was walking down the isle, the crowd got really quiet and just watched from the side. I told them later that that must be what its like to feel like a celebrity!
One of the most touching moments for me was when Jason had Stefani’s daughter Madison come up and gave her a necklace, showing his commitment to her as his daughter. My husband did the same for our daughter when we got married almost 5 years ago. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.
Then it was off to Foreign Cinema for some amazing food, great toasts, and beautiful atmosphere!
I want you both to know just how much it meant for you to ask me to document your day, and I wish you all nothing but the best!
