The moment I spoke to Brittany and Eric about their wedding at Hakone Gardens, I knew I was going to love being their photographer! They are both so kind and funny, and have the love that sustains a marriage.
The week of their wedding, the skies weren’t looking too friendly. I had emailed them to double check as I knew the venue held weddings outdoors. I LOVE outdoor weddings, but it can be nerve wracking in the fall and winter months as you never know what to expect. Thankfully, as you can see, the rain held off…it was so beautiful! There was a koi pond on site, which is where we did the first look, and the ceremony backdrop was filled with wonderful colors!
The wedding party was so fun! Everyone was so helpful, the girls were beautiful, and the guys just cracked me up! And seriously, how cool are those ties!
One of my favorite parts of the day was after the ceremony, when we started doing group shots. At some weddings, you have to practically beg people to pose for photos; not this group! The line for waiting for a photo with the bride and groom got longer and longer! I joked with them that it reminded me of a ride at Disneyland! I knew with the light being limited, we had to be fast…thankfully everyone got the hint and the line moved fast!
Another funny part of the day was the cake cutting…but not for the reason you might think! The couple did the official cutting and feeding each other, but then they just kept feeding each other! The cake was THAT good!
They had a cute candy bar as favors for everyone to take home, and I was introduced to Hi-Chew . Ok guys, they are seriously addicting!
Something new for me was being a part of a wedding with multiple days included. The first day was the wedding and reception for family and friends, and the second evening was a special dinner reception. This is where they honor their parents. The room was filled to the brim and the food was amazing! They went around to each table to toast everyone, and let me tell you – it was crazy! But so fun to see so much joy and love! I also loved watching Brittany change into a more traditional cultural dress, and get adorned with jewelry given to her by family. Such a wonderful tradition!
Eric and Brittany, our introduction might have been unconventional, but it was truly and honor to document your special weekend! Have a wonderful time on your honeymoon!
