Spring Wedding at Vintners Inn | Santa Rosa, California
I was sitting in a Starbucks inside out local Target with my family when I got a text.
It said "are you sitting down?" It came from my dear friend Christy, who I have known since my daughter was teeny tiny. The next text let me know that her oldest daughter, Brittany, was getting married!! I was so excited to hear that they decided on a Spring Wedding at Vintners Inn, and so so honored they asked me to photograph it!
The last time I had photographed Brittany was for her senior portraits, and even that was surreal for me.
Walking into the hotel room and seeing her get her hair and makeup done took my breath away a bit! As a fun touch, they had hired Mary for hair and makeup, who just happens to be my husbands cousin!
And then something happened that has never happened to me at a wedding before.
Brittany was sitting on the bed, relaxing before putting on her dress, when she looked out the window and commented that she thought she saw smoke! We opened the window, and sure enough- smoke was billowing from below our room! We quickly called the front desk to inform them, and then ran out with the wedding dress, my equipment and ran down the stairs! Apparently, the guest downstairs had smoked a cigarette and then tossed the butt out the back porch, but it wasn't completely out...yep. Thankfully, Vintners Inn staff was on it fast, called the Fire Department and then got us a new room!
The rest of the day went swimmingly!
I couldn't get over the gorgeous chair details at the ceremony and the reception tables (Christy has good taste!) Sunset photos were so perfect, with a mix of silly which really is the best!
The last time I took family photos for them (say, 12 years ago?) I had ZERO clue about photography...so I am so glad I got the chance to do an updated photo for them! Such a gorgeous day!! I love you guys!!
Oh, one last tidbit...at one point during the toasts, the groom randomly fell over in his chair. Brittany's face is priceless...and then just about 20 minutes later, another guest did the same thing! Let's just say, it was quite a party!
